etsy love : three little birds sat on my window

I really like the girl's expression in this Stockholm Print and the birdie poster! A collection of etsy favourites made with Picnik, an online image editing tool. By the way, did you know that Picnik is closing down in April? They're letting everyone use the Premium editing tools as a show of appreciation too! If you've always dreamt of using those funky premium stickers or cool effects that usually require some $$, then you're in luck! Anyway, I hope you'll like this little collection!

update : shop packaging

Hello everyone, and Happy Chinese New Year!

I took a photo of my shop packaging this morning :

I made my shop's business card by myself on a shoe-string budget. It's a little plain, but I rather like the minimal design. I stamped ivory pre-cut cards with the logo, and then drew brackets around it with a metallic gold paint marker.

The muslin drawstring bag is handmade too, though not by me.
So this is how you will receive your purchase when you buy something from Crane & Fox. :-)

style : purple pants!

Weekenders

Alexander McQueen leather top, £444
Indigo jeans, £25
H&M leather shoes, £13

I found a pair of similar purple skinny jeans at Padini for RM 23! Would you believe that? It was on sale, of course, but for that sort of quality, I felt like one super lucky girl when I found it. :-) The color makes it hard to match, but who cares?

I'll be wearing this for my weekend outings!

update : half baked idea.

Hello!

I've just finished painting a few brooches as prototypes, and the result? Animals in neon colors. I like it, but not lovin' it. :-( Any ideas? I was thinking of adding metallic tones to them, sort of like color blocking.

I'm terribly sorry about the terrible terrible color quality! The horse is supposed to be smooth and glazed (not speckled and offensively reflective), and the moose (the green thing is indeed, a moose. not some nose boogey) is supposed to be brighter shade of green.

I've been pinning these little brooches together in clusters on my bag, and I'm loving the result! :-) A few more adjustments, and it should be store-worthy. What do you think?

This picture makes me feel like it's quiet. As if time has paused. Just for a teeny bit.

So. Terribly. Cute.

Found this cute little things at Freckle Wonder. I wanted to categorize this under "inspiration". But I thought they'd be better suited to the "So cute it hurts" category. :-)

Wonder what they're thinking about. They seem to exude a sort of quiet confidence. Hmm.

diy : oh hello lover

A collection of prints I'm loving right now. And a few birdy tags.

Valentine's Day is coming up, and I thought that the "Hello Camera Lover" print (the second one), would make a beautiful gift. It's available in all sorts of colors too! I really like the vintage horses print (last one). If I hung it up in my study room, and prop an encyclopedia on horses and equestrianism beside it, I'd totally look like a smarty pants. Heehee. Or a dork with horse issues.

found : Things Organized Neatly

Things Neatly Organized is the place to go if you're, like me, slightly obsessed with seeing things arranged perfectly (well, hence the title). Curiously enough, I'm too lazy to organize my own stuff, which are always in a desperate state of needing some organizing. Well.

The skeleton thing is creepily awesome. I've always wanted to visit the catacombs of Paris one day. Or be an archeologist / anthropologist. Like Bones. ;-) Anyway, enjoy!

etsy love : hullabazoo

I found Hullabazoo via Creature Comforts this morning and I just had to share it. :-)

I've been obsessed with portrait silhouettes lately, and I think it's because of that Jane Eyre book I've been reading. Speaking of Jane Eyre, did you watch the movie? If you haven't, you need to, and if you have, isn't it so dreamy? Personally, I think that half-scowl half-frown that seems to be engraved in Mia Wasikowska's face fits the dark Byronic mood perfectly well.

I'm getting ahead of myself here. Anyway, won't you pop over to check out all the pretty silhouettes in Hullabazoo's shop? You'll love 'em!

update : brooches

Been working on brooches this past week, and I'm finally starting to see some progress and improvements on them. The first few (unfortunate) ones were so horribly deformed and ugly that I felt inclined to smash them to smithereens and bury them in the garden. Lest anyone sees them and pukes all over my crafting desk.

Anyway, most of the brooches are in the shapes of animals, and I originally wanted to paint them in their natural colors. Sadly, I'm not a great artist. And needless to say, the brooches were a failure. They looked no different from ordinary tourist fridge magnets. Eek.

After some thought, I decided to color them with some pop/artsy colors, and make them into pop/artsy brooches. That was much much better, but there's still room for improvement. Lots of room.

While the brooches won't be making an appearance in the shop soon (you might puke all over your computer, and I'm pretty sure the warranty doesn't cover that), I've got a new bunch of cards coming up soon for Valentine's Day! :-)

Oh, and I've just designed the handmade muslin drawstring bags with the shop logo, will show you the pics soon! Utterly in love with them. So cute!

Enjoy the weekend!

Hmm, maybe you have a large piece of wood, you could make it and hang it on your wall for some country love!

Shop Update : The Tribal Series

The Tribal Series

Finally! I've been working on this series for about a month, planning, designing, photographing.. and to see them finally become real and tangible is really satisfying for me. I know this series is very different from my usual creations, which are vintage-esque charm necklaces, but I'm so glad that I tried something new!
*Squeals of Delight!*

I wanted to go for something modern, elegant, and casual but rough around the edges. Not commercial-like. And these necklaces have a little bit of all those things : chic and organic. Of course there were smooth gemstone beads available, but I decided that the raw, untreated ones were prettier! I wanted to name it The Crystal Series, but thought that The Tribal Series sounded earthier.

I was hunting around the house for the perfect background to photograph the new necklaces, and I found it on the top of my wooden IKEA shelves. :-)

Made these with Amethyst, Citrine, Turquoise, and Natural Quartz, mined from Brazil! Exciting!

collected : girl with wolf

Loving this collection of sweet + edgy creations! Not a huge fan of taxidermy, but girl with long red hair and a wolf ? Boy, do I wish I have red hair. That pair of black faux leather earrings are hard to beat too.

inspiration : Paris

I absolutely love love love Paris.
And this beautiful photo from Melanie Day's Tumblr Blog just makes me even more desperate to get there.
